My artwork begins as original compositions, created by hand using digital tools I’ve developed over time. Working with an iPad, computer screen, and stylus—much like traditional brushes and paint—I build each piece through a tactile, intuitive process.
Once completed, the artwork is professionally produced as a museum-quality giclée on fine art paper or canvas.
What is Giclée?
Giclée means “to spray” or “squirt” in French. Giclée printing is widely considered the highest quality, pigment-based, inkjet printing method today. Inks are sprayed precisely, capturing every detail of the original artwork. It is more expensive on a per-print basis than the traditional four-color process for the following reasons.
Colors
Instead of the typical 4 to 8 colors which inkjet printers use, Giclée prints are produced from 10 to 12 ink colors which achieves a much wider color range, rendering colors that are much more intense (vibrant), smooth and accurate.
Resolution
Giclée printers not only have high resolution, but also have much finer sprays. Since the dots are much smaller, it produces better gradients, deeper colors and a much finer finish than a home or office printer.
Longevity
Giclée prints are archival in nature because the printers use pigment inks versus dyes, which are designed to last over 100 years without fading or deteriorating. This allows you to pass your favorite artwork onto your great grandchildren. Giclée prints are more costly than traditional prints, however, they hold more value and they are popular among art collectors.
Moreover, not all of the Giclée prints are the same. The qualities and colors turn out different based on the printer, canvases, inks and calibration systems used. Our reliable printing partners produce high quality Giclée prints using the world’s finest materials and latest technology.
